WELCOME:
Welcome back to another year of training in the LCI Fitness Center.  The LCI Fitness Center is a positive and supportive environment geared to help assist all members of the LCI family in their pursuit of health and well being.  Students who utilize the facility will have access to instruction and a top notch training environment.  All individuals who attend the LCI are welcome in the environment and no previous experience is necessary.  Returning individuals will notice that we have continued our efforts to improve and expand opportunities and will be featuring a host of new training equipment and opportunities.  We hope to see you in the near future.

THE LCI FITNESS CENTER PROGRAM:
The LCI Fitness Center is constantly evolving based on trends and needs of the population.  This year will feature a number of changes and continuations.
Continuation:
- Open Gym during lunch hour
- Open Gym after school access
- Guided after school training (see changes for more info)
- Failure to clean up results in 1 burpee per pound left out
- All users will require a 2014/2015 waiver form prior to exercising

Changes:
- Guided after school sessions will see some changes to it's administration.  The changes will be as follows:
1. Teaching and learning of movements and fundamentals will be instructed during the first week of each month.  If you are new and unfamiliar with training and would like help getting started you will need to attend one of these orientation sessions.  Even if you have experience in training and are looking to improve, learn new movements or go through an existing program you will need to utilize the time offered during the first week of the month
2.  Start time is 3:15 SHARP!!!  Sessions that are guided and seminars will begin at 3:15 sharp!  If you are more than 5 min late you will be asked to not join the group and take advantage of open gym time on your own.  Lateness takes away from the learning opportunity of those who are on time and detracts from group cohesiveness.  Be on time for sessions.
3. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th week of the month are an open gym format.  Open gym format means that the facility is open for users to come in and begin or continue training on the programs that they have chosen to follow.  Daily and weekly warm ups and programs will still be featured on the website and the white board for individuals to follow.  However, direct instruction will not be offered during these weeks.  There will be supervision to help out and ensure that correct and safe technique is observed.
4.  Students/Staff who wish to listen to their own music will need to bring their own source and headphones during operating hours.  Please be courteous to others.  The radio will play but the media area is reserved for staff access only.  This is a direct result of misuse and abuse of the media area.
5.  Guest instruction and seminars will occur on a monthly basis.  Specific seminars on lifting with chains and flexbands, Olympic lifting and so on, will be offered outside of the first week of the month to help hit specific populations and interests.  Please let us know if you have any suggestions.
6. A variety of new equipment.  Come in and check out the new toys that have shown up to help in the pursuit of fitness.

TRAINING:
There are multiple programming options and training opportunities offered through the LCI Fitness Center via the website.  Due to the volume of students that utilize the fitness center, 1 on 1 programming and personal training are not options based on the manpower we have versus the available hours.  We are able to help with facilitation of programming from external sources, offer guidance and provide efficient and effective programming for members on a holistic and generalized scale.  The programming provided through the site will provide you a periodized approach that will help you achieve any and all goals that you may have, but is not a specific tailored program for any one specific discipline.  All programs can be found under the `Conditioning Tab`on the main page and can also be accessed by clicking the link to each individual style of programming listed under the tab.
Program 1: This link will take you to a bodyweight list of anaerobic based conditioning CrossFit workouts.  It requires next to no equipment and will be guaranteed to get you in top shape.  It also provides the ability to pick and choose your workouts without having to adhere to a training schedule.

Program 2: This link will take you to a jump page that has links to a variety of different short range programs from different athletes of different disciplines.  Each program provider/athlete has experience and expertise in a different field and area of training.  Check back for updates and new featured programming.

Program 3: This link takes you to a description page of what program 3 is but ALL program 3 information is listed on the main page as the featured blog posts for that day or phase.  Be sure to also look at the archives to see previous main page programming

Sports Performance: This link will take you to the weekly warm ups, programming and skills that the Sports Performance program is currently training with.

COST (It doesn't have to cost anything - please read on)
The facility is a donation based operation where no user fees are assessed and no individual will be refused access to assistance based on financial situations.  As any facility of this nature does, we have costs that are incurred in ensuring the safety and maintenance, upkeep and improvement of our equipment.  We request that users who have the ability to make a contribution (no contribution is too big or too small) assist us in the continuation of providing this service free of charge to the individuals in our building.  At the same time, we are constantly seeking methods of fundraising and alternative sources of funding to help assist in this endeavor.

SUPPORT:
The LCI Alumni and Booster Association have been large supporters of the movement to help keep our youth and fit, healthy and on the path to lifelong fitness.  Thank you LCI Alumni and Booster for your generous and continuous support.  You may visit the LCI Booster and Alumni Association page for more info at http://www.lcialumniassociation.ca/
