Throughout the years, special people come in and out of our lives for one reason or another. Some of them taken from us and others who just grow distant over time. When you meet one of those special people the effect they can have on your life, and the lives of the people who surround them, can have far reaching and lifelong impact. Brock Ramias was and is one of those special people. At this time each and every year there is a prestigious award that I have the honor of presenting to individuals who have been selected to exemplify the characteristics of being "special".
Brock Ramias Citizen Athlete
Scholarship is awarded to the LCI student that most represents the heart,
kindness, commitment, and determination to influence those around them in a
positive way and an undying passion for “their game”. The recipient should be humble,
genuine, embrace a love of life and fun. They must understand the importance of relationships, not only with close friends
and families, but also with all individuals. This person must selflessly go the
extra mile to help others in times of need and practice random acts of
kindness. They must demonstrate a strong work ethic
regardless of the challenges they face.
This year the award is also paired with a commemoration of Brock. Brock found a second home within the LCI Fitness Center throughout his high school years and into his early adulthood. With the help of the LCI Alumni and Booster Association, the Evans' family and other people whom Brock touched, I am proud to unveil Brock's original LCI Rams football jersey in a shadow box that will forever watch over the young lifters within the LCI Fitness facility. Just one more way we can pay tribute to a great young man who left us too soon and continue the legacy of someone who was special to all who knew him.
