Meeting in Teams

Hi All,
Today we had the first trial meeting in Teams.  For those who attended it was very useful, but I am hoping to see more of you during our regular class times tomorrow.  During the meeting today, and meeting tomorrow, I will be rolling out to you how things are going to look as we sort our way through this.  It is a fluid and developing piece that I don't have all the answers to you as of yet but one that I am working hard to prepare for you.

Please ensure you have Microsoft Teams downloaded to your personal mobile device, laptop, ipad/tablet....whatever tech piece you have to use.  It is very important that you create your account using your school webmail credentials as it will auto join you to the "Teams" you are on.

Lessons are saet to start rolling out Wednesday as tomorrow will be the second meeting day to look at how to use teams, ensure people are on teams, create some dialogue and answer questions, etc.

Lastly, check your student webmails/smail daily.  I am going to be sending out info to students with outstanding written work that is overdue.  You are still required to complete this material and submit in order to pass those credits.  If you do not have the material to complete those courses then please respond to the email so I can send you the info that you need.

Hope all is well and looking forward to seeing more of you tomorrow and tackling this adventure!

Upcoming Communications for Course Work

Hi All,
I just wanted to provide you a quick update as to the Fitness and Performance 9 and Fitness and Performance 12/3/4
course material.  More information regarding delivery and content will come from the school and district level, but in the meantime students will need to ensure they have access to Microsoft Teams app on either a laptop or mobile device.

Teams will be the main method of communication that I will be utilizing with students and content delivery.  If things in tech world work the way that I am hoping they will, I will be able to also upload all content to the site here for you to be able to follow at home.  The course is going to look different than it normally would, due to the current situation we find ourselves in, but rest assured I will be putting out information and lessons that will still allow you to improve yourself and move towards an increase in your personal fitness and/or performance.

I will also be having office hour times that are TBD where you will have the ability to reach out to me and we can have some dialogue.  If you are struggling with learning movements or would like me to have a look at you r current movements we can either do some video chatting or you can send me a video link and we can evaluate and improve from there.

The silver lining in this situation is that if you choose to learn and improve your movement, the lack of equipment for most people, and situation itself, will lend to a slower progression where you can really dial in all of the little details that can make you more efficient and a safer mover.   It's going to be an adventure but I am up for the challenge if you are!!!

Information Update

Below is an email that went out to all parents of LCI students:

Dear Parents,

First off families, we would like to thank you all for your patience.  As you would understand we are navigating this new reality as we go.  Please know that we plan to support student learning in any way possible to meet student success.  Open communication with teachers will be the key in the near future.  Teacher contact will begin next week once we hear from Alberta Education on how to proceed.
This email details the schedule for students to access LCI to collect their learning materials and personal belongings.
The schedule and all considerations have been designed to align with best practice as communicated by Alberta Health Services in minimizing any potential risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
At this time, we are asking for the following measures to be adhered to:
  1. Only students are allowed to access the school (no parents, guardians, etc. will be permitted).
    1. Only the main entrance doors will be open and unlocked.
  2. Students are asked to remove all belongings from their lockers and bring them home.
  3. Students are asked to not loiter and hang around the school; arrangements should be made for an expedient pick up.
  4. If students have any athletic jerseys/clothing to be returned, they should bring during this scheduled time and return to the office.
  5. We ask all students to respect this process, only accessing the school during their scheduled time. This is very important to ensure the number of people in the school is within the limitations as communicated by AHS.
    1. In the event that students are not able to access the school, there will be an additional opportunity for them in the coming weeks. Details surrounding this information will be communicated at a later date.
The schedule for student access is detailed below. Student groups are organized by the first letter of their last name:

Letter to Parents

Here is a copy of a letter that was emailed out to parents regarding our current situation:

Parents/Guardians,

We thank you for your patience during these times of uncertainty.

We wanted to send out some information with regards to the coming days. As has been indicated by Lethbridge School Division, we appreciate you not contacting the school today and giving us all time to best support our community in the days that follow. As we move through today, please
consider the following points:

  1. If there are any medical supplies/materials at the school that your child may need immediate access to ,we ask you please contact the office to make arrangements to pick them up.
  2. A detailed plan regarding how students will be able to access the school to collect their learning materials and locker contents will be communicated to all parents by the end of the day.
  3. We are currently working on how best to support our students needs in light of the news shared by Alberta Education – these decisions will be made as we move past the organization of material collection, and have further communication with our school division and school staff.
  4. For the most up to date information regarding our schools, and for helpful Q and As regarding how best to proceed, please continue to access our Division Website: https://www.lethsd.ab.ca/our-district/news/post/lethbridge-school-division-continues-to-monitor-2019-ncovid-situation

Again, we thank you for your support, understanding and patience. Please continue to take measures to keep yourselves and your children safe.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

Hello LCI Fitness Community,
At this time we are still open afterschools, but hours may see interruptions or modifications in the future depending on the directives of Alberta Health Services, Alberta Education and Lethbridge School Division #51.

Please be extra vigilant with cleaning and disinfecting all equipment after use.  There are spray bottles and rags of commercial disinfectant placed all around the gym and hand sanitizer located at the exit door.  Helping to keep our facility clean and wiped down is everyone's responsibility and we all need to lend a hand!  Staff (myself and caretaking team) are taking extra precautions to wipe equipment throughout the day to help with the safety of users.

As information comes out that effects the ability to access the fitness center, it will be posted to this site for Fitness Center users to view.  All information will be direct reflections and reposts of information coming down from above and not my interpretations.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the board office and administration at LCI.
